There is a part of every dancer's day that happens before the curtain rises, before the music starts, before anyone is watching.

The warmup.

It is where technique is refined and the body is reminded of what it knows. Where the ritual of being a dancer is renewed — every morning, in every studio, at every level, for as long as a dancer dances. The warmup is not the preparation for the work. It is the work.

And yet for decades, the dancewear industry treated it as an afterthought.

Warmup wear was practical at best. Scratchy acrylics, shapeless layers, pieces chosen out of necessity rather than intention. Nothing that reflected the seriousness, the dedication, or the beauty of the dancer wearing it.

We looked at that gap and couldn't unsee it.

La Prima Dancewear was founded with a single conviction: that warmup wear deserves the same standard of craft as the art form it supports. We design and source wool and cashmere legwarmers and warmup essentials that are elevated in material, considered in construction, and beautiful in the way that only functional, well-made things can be.

Because the warmup is part of the performance. It always has been.

Today, La Prima is worn by dancers at every stage of their journey — from the adult ballet student discovering the barre for the first time, to principal dancers at companies around the world who reach for our legwarmers before every rehearsal. That breadth is something we are deeply proud of. It tells us that the need we saw was real, and that what we built to meet it matters.

We are a small brand with an uncompromising standard. Every piece we make is chosen for how it performs on a dancer's body — in the cold of an early morning studio, in the middle of a long rehearsal day, in the quiet ritual of a warmup that no one else sees.
